"Eco-Intelligent Eating" is a term that I have coined in recent years, to describe a sustainable way of eating that is in harmony with our personal and planetary needs. When we eat in an eco-intelligent way, we eat in way that feeds not only our stomachs, but our deepest eco-instincts for survival. To assist you in understanding the premise for eco-intelligent eating, and the power that eco-intelligent eating has, to enhance the health of people and the planet, Ive designed a series of colorful, informative posters. These posters introduce you to my Eco-Intelligent Eating Model, as well as the rich and meaningful philosophy for living well, that eco-intelligent eating is rooted in.

The Eco-Intelligent Eating Model is based on an eco-intelligent worldview. But, what, exactly, does that mean? This poster illustrates the principles of balance and wholeness which define an eco-intelligent worldview. It highlights the personal and planetary eco-relationships that are the foundation of our ecological well-being, namely, our bodies, minds emotions and spirits (our personal ecology) along with plants, animals, eco-systems and the greater cosmos (our planetary ecology), - all of which are designed to work together to exchange life-giving energy.

Can we 'feed' "the ecology of personal and planetary well-being" through the foods we grow and ingest? This poster illustrates three key ideas: #1) Its essential to live conscious of our eco-interdependence, and to recognize how our personal and planetary health are inextricably linked, #2) When we grow and eat whole, natural and organic foods, "what we eat" sustains our bodies and the earth, #3) When we strive to integrate our personal and planetary needs, we nourish an energy-giving connection between ourselves and the earth.

Can we 'starve' "the ecology of personal and planetary well-being" through the foods we grow and ingest? This poster illustrates three key ideas: #1) When we live unconscious of our eco-interdependence, we forget that our personal and planetary health are linked and we live as if our needs are separate from the biotic community of life, #2) When we grow and eat the products of industrial farming, we participate in a method of food production that is less than ethical, humane and environmentally sound, #3) When we neglect to integrate our personal and planetary needs, we starve en energy-giving connection between ourselves and the earth.

Do you eat in a way that integrates your personal and planetary needs? This poster illustrates the positive impact of organic food production and consumption on our personal ecology (our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits) as well as our planetary ecology (nature, plants, animals, eco-systems and the greater cosmos) of which we are an integral part. Discover the personal, social, cultural and environmental advantages of choosing to eat in a sustainable way.

Do you eat in a way that disintegrates your personal and planetary needs? This poster illustrates the negative impact of industrial food production and consumption on our personal ecology (our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits) as well as our planetary ecology (nature, plants, animals, eco-systems and the greater cosmos) of which we are an integral part. Discover the personal, social, cultural and environmental disadvantages of choosing to eat in a non-sustainable way.

Eco-intelligent living is, like eco-intelligent eating, a lifestyle choice based on ones desire to live in harmony with ones self and the earth. Interestingly enough, the Eco-Intelligent Eating Model is the outgrowth of an eco-education curriculum I have developed, called the "Bring Back the Earth!" Eco-Learning Legacy and Eco-Mentor Leadership Training. This curriculum and leadership training offers to be an adventure into the heart and soul of personal and planetary well-being, and it invites life-long learners to participate in a six step pathway to eco-intelligent living. This poster illustrates these six principles, including a basic understanding of what it means to create a lifestyle that is: 1) eco-conscious 2) eco-logical, 3) eco-sustainable 4) eco-balanced 5) eco-nutritional and 6) eco-spiritual.

In a symbolic way, we 'feed' and 'nourish our eco-intelligence by being in a healthy relationship with all of the parts of our personal and planetary ecology that function together to exchange energy and sustain life. This poster illustrates the eco-relationships that define our personal and planetary ecology, and, it introduces the six principles for eco-intelligent living that lead us (through a six step pathway to eco-intelligent living) to meet the individual and collective needs of these interdependent relationships.

In Greek, the term 'oikos' (from 'ecos') means 'house'. If we subscribe to the idea that our bodies and the earth are houses, what would these fleshy and terra contoured architectures say about the way that we have cared for them over the course of our lives? What honest reasons would our houses give us, to describe why their interior and exterior foundations have weakened or crumbled? What would they say has interfered with their ability to provide us and other living things with a deep sense of security, comfort, health and well-being? Nature is calling each and every one of us to know the answer. Oikos, if we listen, connects us with 'the reasons we need to practice the six principles of eco-intelligent living.
