CLUB OIKOS©
Where Does the Word ‘Oikos’ Come From, and What Does it Mean?
The word ‘ecos’ in the Greek Language, comes from the word ‘oikos’ which means, ‘house’. When you participate in the Bring Back the Earth! Eco-Learning Legacy and Eco-Mentor Leadership Training, you are invited to view your personal and planetary ecology as a ‘house.’ The foundation of this symbolic ‘house’, it should be said, is built and maintained by the eco-relationships that inhabit it. For example, your personal ‘house’ is built and maintained by the relationships known as your body, mind, emotions and spirit which are designed to exchange positive energy with each other, in order to create your experience of health and wholeness. Your planetary ‘house’ is built and maintained by nature, plants, animals, ecosystems, and the greater cosmos, of which you are an integral part, which are designed to exchange positive energy with each other (and you) to create its optimal state of health and wholeness.
Club Oikos Invites You to “Give a Little” and “Get A lot” in Return!
Club Oikos, serves as a ‘club-house’ for individuals (including young adults and mature adults) who are seeking ways to create, share and promote lifestyles that generate a spirit of partnership and eco-compatibility between themselves, the earth, and all living things. Club Oikos invites all people to be part of the solution to our personal and planetary ills, by sharing their questions, concerns, ideas, and ‘gifts’ for eco-intelligent living with others. When you participate in Club Oikos, there are opportunities to join with me and others around the globe in social networking. There are also opportunities to join me and others in creating true educational reform. Best of all, there are opportunities to do creative things together, such as putting our ideas together to create a seasonal online newsletter, or creating mini instructional videos together (featuring food demos and wellness talks) that speak to the needs of our selves, our families and communities.
